You will find Golden Lake Camp on the shores of Golden Lake, in the heart of the Ottawa Valley (15 minutes west of Eganville, two driving hours from Ottawa). Our “traditional summer camp”programs are for children and youth (both boys and girls) aged 6 to 18. Subsidized rates are available to families that may need them (see below). Most children with disabilities can be included in our programs (please inquire).
Activities at “Junior Camps,” for campers aged 8 to 11, include crafts, archery, canoeing, swimming, sports, mountain-climbing (on Blueberry Mountain), Discovery Group, Talent Night, and hanging out with friends. “Youth Camps” (for 12-year-olds and older) include many of the same activities, along with others designed for older youth.
Campers in our regular program (68 each week) sleep in cabins with two trained counsellors (overall camper to staff ratio is about one to three). Swimming and canoeing are under the supervision of trained lifeguards, and a designated person attends to health issues. We also offer a separate Outdoor Adventure program (16 campers each week), where campers sleep in tents and participate in more outdoors-focussed activities.
Again this year we are also offering a shorter “Scamper Camp” for children aged 6 to 8 who would like an introductory version of our regular camp program. We are also offering a ten-day Youth Outdoor Skills camp.
Golden Lake is a Christian camp where everyone is encouraged to explore ideas of faith through singing, stories, skits and open dialogue. All backgrounds and perspectives are respected.
Our Geared-to-Income rates allow any family needing financial assistance to request a rate that they can afford, and no child is ever turned down for financial reasons. Special needs campers can often be accommodated, and inquiries are welcomed.
