Come play with us this summer at the Ottawa School of Speech and Drama!
Whether it’s straight up drama, improv, musical theatre and playwriting, OSSD runs one and two week camps perfect for kids and teens looking to explore their theatrical side whether they want to clown around, sing and dance or just learn to develop characters for the stage. On offer this year, check our website (www.ossd.com) for date and prices.
Discover Drama (6-8 year olds):
Let your imagination go wild! Explore movement, sound, characters, story-telling and improvisation. Create masks, puppets and other theatre crafts. Stay for one week or two — every day there is something new to explore! Discover Drama unites our youngest campers with instructors who love to imagine, move, sing, invent and play.
Drama Works (9-11 year olds):
From an actor’s warm-up in the morning, launch into creating characters, improv, dynamic movement and creative storytelling. Express your ideas, feelings and actions using everything in the actor’s toolbox to develop characters, scenes and stories.
Improv: Invent something new every time you step on stage! A fast-paced camp to get your impulses firing and send your imagination into overdrive. Increase your self-confidence and learn to appreciate your fellow performers and your own creativity. Tap into the building blocks for strong scene work, ensemble and character with a one-week boot camp or a two-week intensive.
Page to Stage: Putting on a play takes passion, endurance, silliness and skill, and Page to Stage is the perfect opportunity to go all the way from script to performance. Learn how to play a scene, bring words to life and find creative ways to work with your fellow actors. Page to Stage starts in the rehearsal hall and ends onstage with a performance for friends & parents.
Clown Combat and Comedy: Throw yourself into the world of pratfalls and punchlines! Under the expert guidance of some of Ottawa’s most eclectic theatre artists, flex your comedy muscles with clown exercises, dive into circus skills, and dare to capture your audience’s attention with feats of derring doo as you harness your wild abandon and unlock your funny in a safe and supportive environment.
Camps run 9 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday (except holidays.) Pre and post care available.
